Bad Memory

I've always known I have a bad memory.... things have a habit of sticking for only as long as needed and not a second longer... and in a lot of cases not even that long... whenever I am seeing a specialist for Aaron I have to take notes because I don't trust myself to remember the important bits I need to relay to Shane... When I was working on the STS Young Endeavour it was my job to teach a group of youth all about the ship, the names of all the sails and lines, where they all were and how they all worked... but now I can't even remember how long the ship is .... I have vague recolection of all the important things in my life but no stand out moment by moment recall and sometimes Shane will say .. remember when we . - . - and, well, quite honestly,no I don't. Where is this leading you ask? Well I have of late caught up (through facebook) with a couple of close friends that I had lost contact ... and as those that use it know you end up with one friend then another and so on and so on.... anyway I was online the other day and got in a conversation with a girl I went to school with, but I have absolutely no recolection of her at all... even after looking at photos of her there is just nothing... I kept up the conversation hoping that something would spark but again, nothing....
I have Aaron on a special fish oil suppliment to help with his concentration, maybe I should start popping a few myself.....

Anyway....these are a few wall hangings I have been doing for Regans friends for their birthdays..

and just some random photos of the last week or so...

yes Grandma they still love your teddys... they are getting quite good at pool too!!!

Till next time.....

Another everyday week had by all. The kids are back at school and enjoying every minute. Regan played her first real game of touch football today, she was a little confused and not sure whether she liked it or not ... i'm sure she'll get the hang of it. It's funny we spent the whole winter telling the girls (in netball) don't chase the ball, stay with your player... and by the end they were great... It's basically the same team now playing touch and we've had to go back to the basics again... don't chase the ball, stay with your player.
I'm busy as normal - somehow got talked into running the white elephant and cake stall at the St Joeys fete as well as starting my new job as Girl Guide leader this term.

Shane said he'd put Regan to bed last night but when he didn't return I went in to find this...

A couple of photos of the kids on their favourite of all outdoor things...

July in review

This is a birthday book made for Nans quilting club called the Red Dove quilters... the inside layout came from one at Scrapsidaisy ... I assume it was Julieanne's so thanks for that.

For Grandma ...these are the ones taken on my camera

For Sarah and Kylie

I did this scrapbook page a few years ago after I lost contact with my high school friends, it's taken a while but Sarah has finally tracked us down through Facebook. It was great to hear from you both again .... I thought you'd get a kick out of some of these old photos.

Fairies in the garden

Nan and pop live in the bush on a large hilly property, on one side of the house is a gully that stretches from top to bottom of the hill. For years they have been telling us of how the fairies visit there... only for an hour or so each night and only for a few weeks, then they are off again until the following year. Well last night we were all lucky enough to see them in all their glory. I am of course talking of fire flies but what a beautiful sight... there were literally hundreds of tiny little lights dancing around the bush and flying right around us... so close in fact that Regan was beginning to doubt the 'fairy story', Aaron however is a true believer. Like all those incredible moments we were just drinking it in and I didn't take any photos but I am still in awe of the sight and thought I would share.

Also to share is a few cards I did for mum while she was here....

there will be more to come as she has given my her chrissy list....

a few years ago I made her this box and then for Chrissy each year I send her a bunch of handmade cards for her to give out through the year...

catching up

I actually had a lot to say over the last couple of weeks but since it's taken me so long to say it, it has all become a bit obsolete, so Ill condense.....we are back from Sydney and not very happy about the trip ... Aaron was booked in for a session a day of intensive Occupational Therapy however the therapist had had a bad accident a month prior and still wasn't back at work. I can understand that she was away but why they didn't ring and let me know still baffles me.... they didn't even inform me when I booked in on the sun..... and it wasn't until I was knocking on the door of an obviously closed office that I was told by the nursing staff that we wouldn't be seeing an OT at all.....we had a few other appointments which we went to but since it had only been four months since our last visit they could have been put off..... overall it was a week wasted not to mention all the money I spent shopping in the 'big smoke'.... The kids loved it however, they love going to school where there isn't actually much school work going on and Regan made a friend who has already got in contact with her. This friends brother has the same condition as Aaron but is a few years older so it is great to talk to them and see how their guy is progressing.

Took the scooters down this time...

This is Aaron getting eaten by a shark at oceanworld... he wouldn't stay still long enough for me to take a photo...... yes I know it's hard to stay still when your getting eaten but cant you just try .. for mum??

You never know what you might see at the beach at night

My folks have been here for the past two weeks which we have all enjoyed..... the kids have loved been looked after by grandma and grandpop during the holidays while I work and I'll share more photos later... the ones above are of my little guy showing off his dance moves at the liturgy for grandparents day on the last week of school.

This one was also taken on Grandparents day ... you can just see where this is heading...

and again at the end of the post I get to my scrapbooking ..... catching up a bit but nowhere near enough ..... these are the LO's I did after the kids lights out in Sydney..... for those who were at the Kim Archer workshop they should recognise all the leftover papers in the Jun layout

The 6 million dollar dog

Poor old Todd was back off to the Vet this week when I found a yucky lump in his groin....We rescued Todd when he was one year old and since then he has been the best, most intelligent, loyal dog you could ever ask for but for a freeby by golly he has cost us some money.....his major vet bills have come from: being stabbed in the chest with the stick he was chasing, being attacked by another dog while minding his own business on a walk, swallowing a piece of plastic toy which caused major internal problems (that one was around $10000, stabbing himself in the eye with the spikes of a black boy, knocking a old age spot on his face so he needed to wear a bucket for 2 weeks, hurting his back as I have discussed earlier on this blog ....... and now the poor guy has cancer.......we are taking him in wed week to get the lumps removed and some other things burnt off ...... fingers crossed he will be OK..

on to scrapping.... I made both of these during the week ... the giraffe one was for Barbs birthday.....I have also packed lots of goodies to take to Sydney today, hopefully I will get time to be inspired.....catch up on my return.

Tomorrow finally came

I know it's been a long time.... For weeks now I have been saying i will blog tomorrow.... well tomorrow is finally here!!..
We are all well now, although we were hit down by that terrible bug that was going around. The kids and I had a week off work and school but poor Shane had to battle through it .... we finished off the week by sleeping all weekend, it was so weird to have all 4 of us down and out together..

Last weekend was the netball gala day.... Regan had to play five games all up ... they won 4 and tied with the other team from CJ's ... they were all very proud... I liked this action shot, not quite three feet but never mind..

I can't wait to have my saturday mornings back ... but of course you never get anything for nothing ... my monday arvos will now be taken up by touch football ... not overly looking forward to Aaron starting sports next year.

Talking of Aaron, he has been going to intensive OT , twice a week for 5 weeks ... not only does he love it but it has been great for him... his planning, balance and confidence have all skyrocketed...

As for the creative side ... I haven't been anywhere near as productive as I wanted to... finally finished Regans 'R' that I have been promising since Nan made her new quilt around a year ago!!

This is Aaron's 'A' that I did ages ago - quick tip if you want to try a letter in pencils - don't be a tight arse and get the cheapies like I did... they don't sharpen well and trust me when you are doing this many pencils there is nothing more frustrating than broken tips...

and of course Aaron has been artistic too - loving his three headed troll....

And "yeah" for copycat cards... they're back and the first challenge is black / white / and orange and this is what I came up with ... a fathers day card of course being that time of year and a birthday card for my mother in law who had her birthday on Fri..

now if only i could remember how to get them on the blog.

Well that's all for now, the kids and I are going back down to Royal Far West tomorrow week - I think they will be very impressed with how far Aaron has come... anyway I will be back before I leave..

Go Aussie Go

Olympic fever has hit the kids .... Regan is loving watching (when the Aussies are involved) and I can often hear her cheering and encouraging all the athletes on.... they were all for dressing up in the Aussie colours at school last friday.
Friday was a big day, after school Aaron had a playdate .... big move for him ... which he really enjoyed, although now I have to buy him a playstation ?!? .... and Regan has a fancy dress disco birthday party to go to and then one of her friends sleeping over...

I wasn't overly sure about this situation .... Shane said it was fine ... but check out the look on his face..

Have had a bit of a chance to do some scrapping on my own but was lucky enough to go to a workshop on Saturday at Scrapsidaisy run by the very talented Kim Archer... the last LO is from that day as well as a great mini book that I will endeavour to photo soon (just has a check around and I am actually the first one to put the LO on my blog ... wooo hooo .... I'm normally so late to blog)

To finnish off .... Aaron has a cold .... he has gone to bed at around 6 the last couple of nights but is a real trooper and wanted to go to school today .... we'll see about tomorrow ...... everyone else is well ... work is good and even Toddy dog is doing well on his watered down medication.....

Thanks for stopping by...

All new stuff

I am now blogging on my new laptop (which i've got so I can get all my 'photo crap' off the main computer) using my new internet connection .... how 21st century am I.....
We had a great weekend ... netball was cancelled so we had brecky at Wingham on Sat, then did basically nothing for the rest of the day.... Regan had a party at the pool and Aaron was happy to stay at home and just hang.... on sun Regan and the girl guides helped Landcare Aust plant a heap of trees for national tree day and then we went down to the riverbank for lunch..... just lovely....
I think i've got back in the swing of the kids being back at school, and training, and dance, and guides, and.....the list continues... even though I worked over the holidays it was still more relaxing without all the extras that go with school....
Regan had her party on the nineteenth at Scrapsidaisy and all the girls just loved it ... there were a few non crafters who I think are now hooked. Her actual birthday was monday, I had to work, but she had a great day with Nan.... Aaron on the other hand not so happy..... it was hard to explain that she wasn't having 2 birthdays...

Thanks heaps grandma... the kids love their new jumpers ... they've come in handy as it's been so bloody cold here lately.

I thought it was a bit quiet last weekend and went out side to find the kids having a waterfight in the middle of winter ... how they can't feel the cold is beyond me ...

Till later...

It's my birthday

Happy birthday to me etc,etc.... having a lovely day, managed to get it off work and have spent it wondering around Forster with Nan and the kids, drinking coffees and eating too much yummy stuff....Shane and the kids got me Adobe photoshop 6 ... very excited and yes a little overwhelmed, I know how great the program is, just hoping I can work out how to use it to its fullest.... of to the library I go, hopefully they've got a 'dummys guide to'...... overall enjoying life at the moment, had a great weekend - enjoyed time with the family and even got some scrapping done....

I'm sharing my space at the moment with a rather large huntsman spider - large and smart - he is always sitting on my papers or half finished LOs where he knows I can't squish him or brush him away without damaging something.....his days are numbered.

Heres some random shots to finish off my post..

The irony of Aaron - this is him with his arsenal of weapons running around the vegi patch infront of Shane saving the flowers from the cultivator ... such a softy at heart..

enjoy....

Scrapbooking once again...

It seems to be forever since i've made use of my scrap room but finally i have completed a few projects that have been on the go for a while.... firstly - May in review..

and this is a diary to give to Regan on her birthday... she has started writing down little things that happen to her, her feelings, likes and dislikes so I thought it's now the perfect time for her to keep these things safe in a special place that she will be able to look back on for years to come... I have to admit I also love to read her writing at the moment with that gorgeous spelling and grammar that only a seven year old can do.....

and lastly we have decorated the test tubes for her party with cute paper, thank you tags and everyones names on the top..... looking smart I must say..... you'll have to excuse the photos... it's raining here - again - and very overcast ... I know that my camera would be able to deal with that without any worries but unfortunantly the opperator is without a clue....

talking of clueless photography ... I wasn't able to make it to Regans sports carnival last friday but Shane was .... so I sent him off with my camera and instructions for a few good action shots... this is what he came home with ...

yes, just one shot.... have I mentioned that i have a 18X optical zoom ... theoretically he could have taken a shot of her earing from where he was but no this is what I got.... how did she do you ask? actually this is the 200mtrs - way to far for her little legs to carry her and the fact that she is all alone in the photo says it all.... she tried her little heart out and said she was very proud of her race... got to love her.....she did come third in the 100mtrs and overall had a great day.

Till later.....
